Prep is the first year of school and provides the
foundation for your child's education. It is a full-time program held in primary schools. Children attend Monday-Friday, generally from 9am-3pm.
To enrol at Boonah State School all students must have:
- A birth certificate or registration of birth or passport.
- Evidence of any medical conditions of which the school needs to be aware.
- Any official documentation relating to custody or family issues of which the school needs to be aware.
- Details of any specialist care given, e.g. speech therapy.
- Proof of residency/citizenship status and visa (if from overseas).
Our Prep students engage in a rich and innovative curriculum using iPads, interactive whiteboards and specialised manipulative resources.
Students are encouraged to collaborate and negotiate, be creative, solve problems and construct knowledge together whilst instilling an absolute love of learning. We offer a complete curriculum that challenges students to excel.
We use the new Australian Curriculum to achieve the best educational outcomes. We work and liaise with world recognised academics to deliver outstanding learning outcomes.
Our Literacy program is underpinned by Phonemic Awareness lessons plans, designed to ensure that children develop the foundational skills for literacy including phonological and phonemic awareness, motor skills, print concepts and oracy.
In prep we study the following curriculum areas: English, Maths, Science, History, Geography. Our students participate in specialist lessons including; Music and Physical Education.
